Initial Situation & Challenges

01

Aybüke Hasoglu-Yilmaz joined CORPASS GmbH four years ago as a working student, continued through her Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and today works as a Senior Consultant. CORPASS specializes in restructuring companies in crisis, and one core deliverable is the restructuring opinion under IDW S6, which by regulation must include an assessment of the market, the industry, competitors, and the viability of the business model.

When Aybüke started in 2022, the team had no touchpoints with AI at all. Researching the market and competitor sections of an opinion meant finding sources manually, reading through them, extracting the key points by hand, filling the slides, and then rewriting everything in the precise, formal language an expert opinion requires. It was time-consuming work, and it fell to every consultant on a case, not just to Aybüke.

A recurring problem was consistency: a statement made on one slide would sometimes contradict a statement on another, simply because everything had been pieced together manually from many different sources. Because deadlines in a restructuring case are often tight, this kind of work could squeeze the time available for other parts of the opinion.

The team's first move toward AI was cautious and informal — using general AI chatbots to research topics or rephrase text. It offered some relief, but only partial.

Fully manual research: finding sources, reading them, and extracting key points by hand

Rewriting every finding into the precise, formal language an expert opinion requires

Inconsistent statements across slides, pieced together from many different sources

Tight restructuring deadlines squeezing the time available for other parts of the opinion

General-purpose AI chatbots offered only partial relief

Usage & Impact

02

StrategyBridgeAI changed that. The platform delivers analysis already adapted to CORPASS's own corporate style, so the team no longer has to build the slides from scratch. Instead, consultants review the market, industry, business-model and competitor analysis that comes back, form their own judgment on it, and work it directly into the opinion.

In practice, CORPASS uses almost the entire report. Because an IDW S6 opinion has to give a defensible perspective on whether a company still has a viable future, the team draws on the market, industry, competitor and business-model modules in nearly every case. The M&A module is used more selectively — mainly in distressed-M&A situations, where part of the question is whether the company could realistically be sold, and to whom.

Asked why a dedicated solution is needed rather than a general-purpose AI tool, Aybüke pointed to reliability: with a generic AI tool, a consultant can never be fully certain that an answer is grounded in sound, scientific sources — sometimes the underlying sources turn out to be unreliable. Since a restructuring opinion is a legally binding document that consultants are personally liable for, every additional minute spent double-checking sources adds real cost. With StrategyBridgeAI's data foundation behind the analysis, that extra verification step largely falls away.

Impact in daily work

03

Faster turnaround per case, thanks to slides that arrive ready to work with

Freed-up time reinvested in deeper analysis — restructuring measures, financial planning, and other case-specific work

Consistent, non-contradictory statements throughout the opinion

Senior consultants can support more cases in parallel, since parts of the analysis are now handled faster

More confidence handing off report content, given the reliability of the underlying data

CORPASS GmbH is a restructuring advisory firm whose core business is supporting companies in crisis. A central part of this work is preparing restructuring opinions under the German IDW S6 standard, which require a structured view of the market, the industry, the competitive landscape and the long-term viability of the business model — the basis for judging whether a company still has a future. The team works in project-based case teams, typically with one consultant acting as case lead supported by colleagues such as Aybüke.
